One of the most challenging questions I have ever asked myself is, “What do you want?” It is challenging because many of us tend to suppress our desires and wishes. We worry about what others will think of us if we express our true passions, or fear that our desires will never come to fruition.

For an empty-nester, this question takes on a whole new dimension. After dedicating so much of our time and energy to raising our children and building a family, we often find ourselves at a loss for what we truly want in this next chapter of our lives. It’s a time of transition, and with it comes a unique set of challenges and opportunities.

Whether working full-time or staying at home, our focus and intentions have always been centred around our family. Now that our children are moving on with their own lives, it’s normal to feel a mix of emotions. On the one hand, we have newfound freedom and the chance to focus on ourselves again. On the other hand, we may experience a sense of loss, feeling uncertain about our identity and purpose. It’s exciting and daunting at the same time.
